A WiN FOR THE PNW

Washington state throws open its doors to nonresident owned yachts for private cruising and charter. Worth Avenue Yachts is a proud member of Superyacht Northwest, recently helping push this bill into reality.

Worth Avenue Yachts works closely with Fred Robinson Law in the Pacific Northwest to assure a complete in-house understanding of how HB 1107 can benefit our clients.

15-year effort

Culminating a 15-year effort initiated by Robinson Law Firm and Superyachts Northwest, Washington State will now allow nonresident entity-owned yachts to acquire two 60-day permits a year to stay in the State without tax.  This is in addition to the 60 days allowed currently.  Nonresident entity and individually owned boats will now be treated similarly for the first time.

Major cruising destination

Washington will also become a major cruising destination for charter yachts, joining British Columbia and Alaska.  Nonresident-owned charter yachts up to 200’ in length will be able to operate in Washington and will be subject to use tax measured by a small percentage of the charter fee.

The new law will be effective July 24th. If you have any questions call our Pacific North West office at (206) 209-1920.
