Westport Shipyard began in 1964 as a builder of commercial fishing vessels and passenger ferries for the North Pacific. In the 1980s and 1990s, it manufactured hulls for premium builders like Christensen and Crescent. In 1997, the company shifted its focus to luxury motor yachts, spurred by investment from Bayliner founder John Orin Edson.
