    Detailed Information

Recently contributed to AMIkids, and available soon for a 3-year lease with purchase option, at zero percent interest, for qualified buyers.  Please inquire Originally built in 1990 as ASANTE, by the acclaimed Lyman Morse Shipyard in Maine, SOUTHERLY was one of the earlier Hunt ‘Deep Vee’ designs among larger yachts, resulting in a remarkably fast and smooth riding offshore cruising yacht of exceptional quality and comfort in all conditions.  Her original owners were stepping back from a larger sailing yacht, so they brought a wealth of cruising yacht knowledge to this fast and comfortable, live aboard layout.
She was completely and totally refit in 2005/6 as SALLY-JO including new machinery and systems, plus full paint from bottom to flybridge, varnish and interior décor by the craftsmen at Front Street Shipyard in Maine. Until 2020, she was used for east coast cruising from Maine to Florida and maintained in perfect condition by an exceptionally knowledgeable Owner.  In 2021, she was acquired by Wickford Shipyard, where she received extremely light use and the best of care.    She received a new port engine in 2021 and at present she presents herself as a classic fast cruiser in impeccable condition ready to cruise the world in comfort and style.

SOUTHERLY is a traditional Down East Express with Flybridge style fast cruiser. She has an open arrangement with two large staterooms with ensuite heads and an extremely large main salon fully open to the galley forward and down, below the full-widh windscreen for an extremely generous feeling of space. Her Varnished teak interior, elegant joinerwork and high gloss varnished teak and holly soles create an environment of classic elegance. Upon entering from the Starboard pilothouse door, you step into the well designed and updated helm station, with a comfortable leaning post type helm seat. All boat handling, navigation, machinery instrumentation and controls are well displayed and close at hand. The access stairs to the connected galley down and forward is on centerline, with cabinetry leading to the port pilothouse door. The sense of volume and open space created by the large main salon and full width windscreen connecting the open galley is truly remarkable for a yacht of this size.
Main Salon The Main Salon is just aft and adjacent with two large comfortable leather chairs to starboard, an L-shaped spacious settee to port, with a large custom drop leaf table just off centerline. Bookshelves, and entertainment centers are located on the aft bulkhead. Fully aft, to starboard is a full writing desk/office area to complete this gracious salon.
Galley Forward from the Salon/Helm station, down four steps is the spacious and well detailed Galley. A few of her features include a one-piece stainless-steel countertop with teak trim at all openings, Grunert Cold Plate refrigeration and separate deep freezer, both of which are well insulated and top opening with the refrigerator also having a front door to easily access the lower items. A Chef’s delight with large S/S sink, Miele 4 burner range top, separate Miele H818 Oven ,GE S/S microwave and custom fitted dish locker. To the Starboard side of the Galley passageway is a large pantry that also houses a combination Splendid washer/dryer. Guest Stateroom The Guest Stateroom and Head are forward of the galley. The stateroom is large, with generous lockers and hanging locker, opening ports and hatch to the foredeck. The Berths are not a V-berth, but two separate quite large single beds with custom Zeno mattresses, fitted sheets and comforters and plenty of floor area in this generous stateroom. The Guest Head is unusually spacious for a 52’ yacht with two doors for access, one from the forward stateroom and one from the passageway to serve as a day head. In addition to the standard facilities, the head also has an oversize stall shower. Master Stateroom The Master Stateroom is a spacious retreat with full king bed, new inner spring mattress (’22), and excellent storage with hanging lockers and an abundance of drawer space. The stateroom also features a split head arrangement, with the head compartment on port and a separate large stall shower on the starboard forward side of the stateroom. There are opening ports and hatch to the aft deck for an abundance of natural light and ventilation. Flybridge Stepping up to the flybridge from the aft deck, there are comfortable settees port and starboard with a varnished teak dropleaf table between. Continuing forward is the helm station with two forward facing swivel seats, full electronics and all controls. The venturi glass is tinted and in crystal clear condition, unlike the milky condition usually found on 5-7-year-old yachts. The aft deck provides access to the swim platform and offers three large hatches to access the lazarette. A Lewmar self-tailing electric winch is centered for use as a warping winch for either port or starboard stern lines.
