Captain Davis Butler grew up surrounded by the coastal waters of Savannah, Georgia and started driving boats at a very young age. His favorite activity as a young man was zipping through the marshes on a personal watercraft or entertaining friends on the family boat while exploring Georgia’s barrier islands. This lifestyle helped cultivate a passion for exploration and entertainment which is expressed in the way that Captain Davis plans and executes his charters. The Bahamas has proven to be one of his favorite cruising grounds because of its 700+ small islands and endless beaches to explore.
Although fun and entertainment are at the forefront of any yachting experience, guests’ safety and comfort are the main concern for the crew. Over his years of crossing oceans and inland navigation, Captain Davis has learned how to preemptively avoid dangerous situations and proactively react to incidents on board. He has selected professional and well-trained crew members to make CHILD’S PLAY one of the safest and most enjoyable charter yachts around. Born and raised in Southeastern Virginia and the grandson of a baker, Chef Mark developed a passion for food and hospitality at a young age. As a youngster, his help in the kitchen was always welcomed, given the frequency of large family gatherings his parents hosted. Creating flavorful sauces and baked goods have always been Chef Mark’s major points of interest.
Chef Mark’s repertoire includes fresh seafood, Kobe, Wagyu and organic beef dishes, diabetic and reduced-guilt desserts, Mediterranean, vegan, California cuisines and Asian fusions. In preparing excellent meals, he maintains a safe, efficient galley, caters to dietary requirements and preferences. He keeps galley clean and organized, works with the highly skilled interior team, stands watches, and he stays abreast of relevant procedures and equipment to ensure the safety of guests and crew.
Chef Mark loves to learn and implement culinary techniques from around the globe. He intends for your meal experiences on board to create new memories and fondly evoke old ones. Your detailed preferences tremendously help tailor a menu to what you and your guests will love – both in the moment and always.
Sven was born in South Africa and grew up in Greyton, a beautiful country town. He has always had an unwavering love and respect for nature and adventure. A family of Land Rover enthusiasts, they toured most of the African continent, camping in the wild and embarking on epic safaris and 4x4 missions. His appreciation for mother earth prompted him to study for a Bachelor of Arts degree in development and environment. Ever curious about what lay beyond the horizon, he left for the USA in search of worldly adventure and a grander perspective on life. Yachting introduced him to an entirely new world of exotic places and never-ending activities! During his time in yachting, he has cruised the Bahamas central America, and the Caribbean. An incredibly positive and upbeat person, Sven is always smiling and keen on every type of adventure. He truly enjoys taking guests out on the water for an unforgettable day of fun!
Born and raised on Long Island, New York Patrick has always had a love for the ocean and a passion for fishing. Patrick began his maritime career at an early age, working at a marina whilst still at school for 2 seasons. Patrick then moved on to work on commercial fishing vessels for two years and completed a degree in Maritime Technology at Kingsborough. He was introduced to the yachting industry nine years ago and went on to complete his 200 ton Captain’s License, AEC, and Dive Master certifications. Patrick is also a keen motorcyclist, crazy about fishing, and loves to watch movies in his spare time.
Laura was born and raised in Norway, Maine, and has lived for several years in San Diego, California as well as the Cayman Islands. She loves being surrounded by the sea, seeing new places, and meeting new people. Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from San Diego State University. She has a passion for food and beverage and is always looking for new ways to give the best service on board. Laura is active outdoors, enjoys going on adventures, swimming, and putting her feet in the sand.
Naztazia was born in Wisconsin and moved to Boulder, Colorado with her family at the age of 12. After high school, she attended Colorado State University where she studied investigative forensics. Taking a break from her studies, she took a summer position on a motor yacht and never looked back. She spent the next 6 years working on motor yachts from 85-200 feet with her now-husband, Captain Butler. In 2014 she left the yachting industry to pursue her dream of starting a family. She now has two fantastic boys and still manages to fulfill her love of yachting, working short-term trips when she can. Teaching Pre-K is her full-time job, but it allows her the opportunity to continue providing the best level of service and cleanliness onboard private yachts.
Katie was born and raised in the panhandle of Florida known as “The Emerald Coast”. She has been a boater her entire life and has a deep love for the ocean and all things in it. She and her family enjoy taking yearly trips to the Florida Keys for snorkeling and lobstering. After realizing her love for the water, she decided that there was no better career for her than being a professional crew member aboard a private yacht. Katie is eager to experience the amazing opportunities that wait on the horizon.
